We are seeing a paradigm shift within
the power-generation industry. Deregulation is
under way and monopolies are dissolving. Demands
for lower emissions and sustainable power generation
are also increasing. The Kyoto protocol, which
calls for a reduction in CO2, is an example of
this. Power quality and reliability of supply
are important parameters as well.
The combined result of these drivers
is a move toward small-scale operations based
on natural gas. High flexibility and short payback
are important. The new requirements for power
generation equipment make microturbine technology
ideally suited to play an important role in the
energy supply system of the future.
